ShippingCart

A cross-border warehousing and shipping platform. I designed SC Protect, its insurance for lost or damaged packages, on the app and the website.

Overview

ShippingCart is a cross-border warehousing, shipping, and consolidation service from QuadX that gives online shoppers direct shipping, with air and sea services from the US, UK, Australia, Korea, and Japan.

I designed SC Protect, a new way for users to insure their packages, across the mobile app and the ShippingCart website.

The Challenge

Shipping internationally comes with risk. Users needed a simple way to protect their packages against loss or damage in transit, and the peace of mind that goes with it.

The challenge was to add insurance, and a way to claim on it, to the existing ShippingCart experience without making shipping any harder.

My Role

I led workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements and define the workflow for applying for and claiming insurance. I translated what we learned into:

  • User flows
  • Wireframes
  • High-fidelity designs
  • Prototypes

The Work

I started with low-fidelity wireframes to keep discussions on the flow: layout, interactions, content, and hierarchy, before any colour or imagery.

Once the workflow was settled, I refined it into high-fidelity mockups, iterating with the product owner and stakeholders before preparing the handoff to development.

SC Protect on the Website

On the website, protection starts in the cart. A tooltip on package value explains why declaring it honestly matters, and a short modal makes the case: SC Protect covers up to $20,000 per shipment, with a $10,000 limit per item.

At checkout, the cover appears as a valuation fee with its full breakdown and a plain summary of benefits: protection against loss or damage in transit, on-time delivery or the shipping fee back, and refunds when returning wrong or defective items. SC Protect starts switched on, and turning it off brings up a short confirmation that spells out what would no longer be covered.

The Outcome

SC Protect is live on the ShippingCart app and website, replacing the old insurance, which covered only loss or damage. One optional add-on now covers three things: loss or damage (up to $10,000 per item and $20,000 per shipment), a refund of the shipping fee, up to ₱5,000, when a delivery by air or sea runs late, and up to ₱5,000 back on international returns to the merchant.
